The first Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States will be held on October 20-21 in Almaty.
CCTS is a regional organization aimed to enhance the unity of the Turkic people. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev was the first president to express the idea of creating the CCTS at the Summit of the heads of the Turkic-speaking countries in 2006. This initiative was fixed in the agreement on creation of the new international structure at the forum in Nakhichevan in 2009.
