President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in Astana for participation in the informal summit of heads of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member-states, BELTA reports. His airplane landed in the airport of Kazakhstan capital Thursday evening. He was met by the guard of honor at the airport. According to Belarus TV-channel CTV, the discussions will cover current international issues, including the situation in North Africa and Middle East (Afghanistan), as well as the situation in the CSTO area. The main focus will be made on promotion of regional security. However, no important documents are scheduled to be signed at the informal meeting in Astana. News-Kazakhstan is citing press-secretary of Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ilyas Omarovas saying that Belarus leader “was the first president of the CSTO member-state to arrive in Astana.” According to Omarov, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan is expected to arrive in Kazakhstan capital Friday morning, while other presidents of the CSTO member-countries will arrive Friday afternoon. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov will not take part in the summit. The Collective Security Treaty Organization is the organization formed up between Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The meeting of CSTO Presidents will start August 12 in Astana, then the Presidents will move to Borovoye (a resort area not far from Astana) and will continue their work there.
