Timur Kulibayev has been elected chairman of the National Entrepreneurs Chamber, Tengrinews.kz reports from the first meeting of the Chamber. “We have for many years worked to support entrepreneurs. This is a strategic task set for Kazakhstan by the President and the life itself. We have to develop non-energy sectors and for this we need energetic entrepreneurs, their experience and their mind set on work. We have to provide them with opportunities to develop their businesses and create new jobs. And in the end they will be contributing to our country's prosperity,” Kulibayev said after the election. “We have to become a reliable and competent partner of the government,” he added, referring to the state-private projects that Kazakhstan has been attaching a lot of importance to. Besides, the head of Atameken Union Ablay Myrzakhmetov was elected chairman of the Chamber’s Board. The Board also includes freelance advisor of Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Zhanat Yertlessov, Majilis (Lower Chamber of the Parliament) deputy Yekaterina Nikitinskaya, small business rights advocate Timur Nazkhanov and first deputy chairman of Atameken Union Rakhum Oshakbayev. This July Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a law establishing the National Entrepreneurs Chamber making the membership in the chamber compulsory for all the entrepreneurs registered in Kazakhstan, except for those who are legislatively obliged to be members of other non-commercial organizations or state-run companies.
