Kazakhstan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov met with U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth J. Fairfax on November 8, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazykhanov and Fairfax talked behind closed doors for almost an hour. “I think that the fact that the meeting was so long shows that Kazakhstan-American relations are very important. During 20 years of interaction our relations progressed in different areas. We are currently cooperating in many areas and discuss many issues together. We have discussed many topics today, starting from nuclear non-proliferation and security in Europe and Asia,” U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth J. Fairfax told the journalists. He thanked Kazakhstan for supporting international efforts on stabilization of Afghanistan. “I can say that it was a good start and I liked talking to Minister Kazykhanov; I think we will work together very well in future,” he said. Kenneth J. Fairfax also commented on the possibility of U.S. President Barack Obama coming to Kazakhstan. “I am sure the meeting will take place, but I cannot give any details on when and where it will happen. It sounds like a good goal for me to make the meeting happen during my mission here,” he said.
