Kazakhstan’s Government will not be reducing funds to finance its social obligations to its citizens regardless of further economic developments, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing President Nazarbayev as quoted by Newskaz.ru.

“I have commissioned the government to come up with measures to be taken amidst possible optimistic and pessimistic scenarios (…) under no circumstances should the Government reduce funds to finance its social obligations”, President said at the joint sitting of the chambers today.

According to him, “Kazakhstan possesses all the required resources to ensure its people’s stable welfare (…) efforts to enforce the industrialization programme, planned launch of new industrial enterprises, new jobs, and all the programs to ensure decent healthcare services, affordable housing, education opportunities (…) all these initiatives should keep on working”, he said.

He admitted that “the sanctions imposed on Russia and the reciprocal actions eventually do have an impact on Kazakhstan. (…) within the Customs Union [of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus] and within the would-be Economic Union we will be feeling the pressure as the countries affected are our major trade partners. The Government has been closely working on possible scenarios and respective solutions (…) Kazakhstan enjoys stability and resources (…) if needed, we will be maintaining the social situation at a decent level”, he summed up.
