Kazakhstan's Ministry releases statement on Malaysian Airlines plane crash

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the crash of Malaysian passenger plane Boeing-777 in eastern Ukraine, Tengrinews reports. The statement was published on the Ministry's Facebook page.

“We are most deeply concerned with what happened. We believe that there should be a most thorough investigation and that all the circumstances of what happened should be established. (...) We yet again call on all the sides involved in the conflict in eastern Ukraine to cease fire and to find solutions through peaceful means,” the statement said.

Malaysia Airlines plane crashed in the Donetsk region of Ukraine on July 17. All 298 people on board are believed to have perished.

Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines was on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, when at 18.45 Moscow time Ukrainian air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane just 50 kilometers from the border with Russia, according to RIA Novosti. The flight was supposed to arrive in Malaysia on Friday at 06.10 (10.10 GMT) local time.

After that Kazakhstani airline company Air Astana has suspended all flights to Kiev.

There were no citizens of Kazakhstan on board of the Malaysian aircraft.
