Kazakhstan’s humanitarian aid efforts

Kazakhstan is expected to provide humanitarian aid worth $3 million to poorer countries this year, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the country’s Ministry of National Economy.


Kazakhstan is expected to provide humanitarian aid worth $3 million to poorer countries this year, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the country’s Ministry of National Economy.

According to the Ministry, Kazakhstan has been rendering humanitarian aid in line with respective government decrees. Back in February Kazakhstan rendered aid to Afghanistan in the form of foodstuffs (notably 1 266 tons of flour, 1000 tons of sugar, 190 tons of butter) worth $2 million.

The Ministry elaborated Kazakhstan was preparing humanitarian cargoes to Serbia and Afghanistan. In line with the government decree as of July 31, Kazakhstan is sending dairy products, pasta, oil, warm clothes worth $0.7 million.

Water cisterns, metal folding beds, tents, pillows, mattresses and kettles worth $0.2 million are going to be sent to Serbia.
Last year Kazakhstan rendered humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and Lebanon, sending a total of 160 000 liters of oil and over 60 tons of buckwheat worth $0.4 million.

The types of humanitarian cargo depend on formal requests of countries hit by socio-economic crises. Decisions on rendering aid is taken by the Government and concerted by respective public bodies within 3 working days.
