Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan and Hungary have agreed on oil supplies and joint energy projects, citing the Ministry of Energy.
During a meeting in Astana, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, including the current state and future development of the energy sector in both countries.
"Special attention was given to cooperation between KazMunayGas and MOL Group in the oil and gas sector. The parties emphasized the importance of efficiently developing the Rozhkovskoye gas condensate field, in which both companies are involved," the statement read.
The ministers also addressed oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline, reaching an agreement on test deliveries in 2025.
The Druzhba pipeline is a major transit route for oil deliveries to Europe. Previously, it transported Russian oil, but after EU sanctions in 2022, the northern branch (to Poland and Germany) was shut down. However, the southern branch, which passes through Ukraine to Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, remains operational.
Kazakhstan has already been utilizing Druzhba for oil exports. In 2024, the country supplied 1.5 million tons of oil to Germany via the pipeline.
