Kazakhstan to continue assisting Afghanistan
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev told the Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan Jan Kubis that Kazakhstan was ready to continue providing assistance to Afghanistan through different projects aimed at the country’s development, including education of Afghan students in Kazakhstan's universities, Akorda. Kubis updated Nursultan Nazarbayev on the progress in preparations to the presidential elections in Afghanistan scheduled for April 2014, and told him about the United Nations efforts to stabilize the situation in the country. Besides, Nazarbayev and Kubis discussed the main directions of Kazakhstan's cooperation with the United Nations, including mechanisms of ensuring security in the region and economic recovery of Afghanistan.
