Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry has started an official campaign to promote Kazakhstan's bid to join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member in 2017-2018, Tengrinews citing the Ministry’s press-service. A reception was held at the Foreign Ministry. It was attended by Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov and representatives of the Presidential Administration, both chambers of the Parliament and other Ministries and authorities of the country. Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev tagged the campaign to enter the UN Security Council one of the top priorities of the country’s foreign policy. Earlier Minister Idrissov said that Kazakhstan was politically ready for a membership in the UN Security Council. “We believe that we are politically ready to undertake the international obligations and responsibility for the global affairs as a non-permanent member of the Security Council,” Idrissov said.
