President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti believes that Kazakhstan needs to develop specialized infrastructure, in particular, the one to provide access to broadband Internet, Tengrinews.kz reports. “The difficulty is that it is necessary to create specialized infrastructure. Everywhere in the world availability of mobile and broadband technologies changes the face of business letting innovators participate more than ever. These technologies are also very important for closing the gap between cities and villages, providing access to the global network regardless of the location,” Chakrabarti said at the meeting of Kazakhstan President’s Foreign Investors Council. Head of EBRD also noted that the bank was considering a possible joint project on Internet development in Kazakhstan with KazakhTelecom, Kazakhstan's national communication company.
