Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced that Kazakhstan is prepared to export more than $200 million in goods to Iran, as the two countries move to deepen trade and investment cooperation, according to Akorda.

During the talks, the leaders reviewed opportunities to expand bilateral economic ties.

“Mutual trade turnover grows every year, but we must focus on diversifying it. In particular, we should intensify cooperation in agriculture, transport and logistics, mining, healthcare and advanced technologies. I am confident that the documents signed today will give strong momentum to further political and economic partnership,” Tokayev said.

The President also supported the establishment of a Kazakhstan Trade House in Tehran and highlighted the importance of strengthening the Business Council and fully utilizing the potential of the Kazakh-Iranian Chamber of Commerce.

According to official data, Iran invested $17.8 million in Kazakhstan’s economy since the beginning of the year. Iranian companies are taking part in projects such as a cheese production plant in the Almaty region and a leather-processing facility in West Kazakhstan.

Kazakh businesses, in turn, are also implementing several projects in the Iranian market. Both sides reaffirmed interest in developing the North–South transport corridor and the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran railway route, where freight volumes increased by 53% over the first ten months of this year compared to 2024.

The presidents also discussed further diversification of transport and transit routes to strengthen regional connectivity, including joint development of port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea. Prospects for cooperation in agriculture, energy, mining, digitalization and artificial intelligence were also on the agenda.
