Kazakhstan is politically ready for the membership in the UN Security Council, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov. "This is our other important political project. We believe that we are politically ready to bear the international responsibility and responsibility for the global issues as a nonentity member of the Security Council," he said at the meeting of Berlin Eurasian Club in German capital. "We expect that our partners will support us. Elections to the UN are competitive and we are used to competition. 2017 is especially important for us, as we are expecting to be elected to the Security Council and we have already been selected as a country to host the important exhibition EXPO-2017," the Minister said. He stressed that Kazakhstan was going to run a campaign to "raise the global awareness of it being an active supporter of peace, cooperation and interaction at all levels and through all platforms". "We are the leaders of nuclear disarmament, this is acknowledged by everyone. That's why nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation will be one of the main components of our campaign during elections to the UN Security Council," Idrissov said.
