Kazakhstan has ratified a protocol to an agreement on construction of a pipeline with China, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s official website. “The President has signed the Law On ratification of the protocol on amendments to the Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and China on cooperation in construction and exploitation of Kazakhstan-China pipeline dated August 18, 2007,” the message states. Earlier former Kazakhstan Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev said that the protocol was signed in October 2009 in Beijing. According to the document, the future joint project will not be subject to Kazakhstan laws on procurement of goods, works and services. The company is exempted from customs duties, VAT payment and other taxes except for the corporate income tax. The plan is that the rate for gas transportation along Beineu-Shymkent pipeline will make $4.68 per 1,000 cubic meters per 100km.
