Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev meets executives of major Chinese companies

Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has met heads of major China’s companies on his state visit to China, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports from Shanghai.

At the talks with President of AVIC INTERNATIONAL Wu Guangquan the sides focused on the aviation market in Kazakhstan. Notably, President Nazarbayev expressed his interest in producing aircraft for civil purposes, in particular Y22 aircraft capable of seating 19 passengers. The company will send its delegation to Kazakhstan in the near future to have all the required documents prepared for signing. The Chinese side expects the contract for joint production operations to be signed as early as in the autumn of 2014.

At the talks with the leadership of Shenhua Group, a leading state-owned mining and energy company in China, the sides dwelt on projects to process coal and produce fuel in Karaganda oblast. President Nazarbayev has pledged support to the project.

Besides, President Nazarbayev met Ms. Sun Yafang, Chairwoman of the Board of Huawei, a networking and telecommunications equipment company. According to her, the Company plans to contribute to development of the Kazakhstan’s telecom market and facilitate preparations for the EXPO-2017 to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city. As of today, Huawei is a major supplier of telecommunications equipment to major mobile carriers in Kazakhstan. The Company plans to complete its 4G network to introduce the standard in Almaty, Astana and other major cities.

President Nazarbayev is on a state visit to China and has already met Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two have launched construction of a Kazakhstan’s terminal at the Lianyungang seaport. May 21 President Nazarbayev is to attend the IV summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
