Direct flights between Kazakhstan and Dubai may reopen, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry. The issue was raised at the meeting of Kazakhstan Consular General in Dubai and North Emirates Askar Shokybayev with Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “Deputy Ruler of Dubai noted the importance of reestablishment of the direct flights between major cities of Kazakhstan and Dubai and promised to render support in arranging a meeting of the Consular General with Chairman of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and CEO of the Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum for discussion of this issue,” the Ministry’s message states. Direct flights to Dubai were closed for Kazakhstan residents this April, when Dubai aviation authorities stopped admitting SCAT airplanes to their airports. In October 2010 Air Astana was banned from flights to Dubai airport. The issues was caused by Kazakhstan's unwillingness to include an extra air carrier in the list of companies making flights between Kazakhstan and yjr UAE.
