Kazakhstan has good chances of hosting the World Petroleum Congress in Astana in 2017, Tengrinews.kz reports citing president of the World Petroleum Council Renato Bertani as saying. "Astana is a really serious candidate for hosting of the congress of the petroleum council after Moscow in 2017," Bertani said at a press-conference in Astana. According to him, Kazakhstan's capital is ready for the event of such a high level. "We will welcome an application from any member-country willing to host the next congresses. The next congress after Moscow will be held in 2017. Our congesses are held once every three years. I can explicitly say that Kazakhstan and Astana are fully ready to host an event of such level. We will be happy to accept Kazakhstan's application. Of course, the council will take the decision via an open voting," head of the World Petroleum Council said. As for the meeting of the petroleum council held in Astana, it covered preparation for the summit of the World Petroleum COngress to be held in Moscow on June 15-19, 2014. The Moscow congress will be dedicated to a responsible approach to ensuring energy supplies for the growing world. The agenda includes four main blocks for discussion. "The first block will cover exploration and production of oil and natural gas. The second block will relate to oil processing and oil chemistry. The third block will include gas transportation, processing and marketing. The fourth block will cover oil and gas sectors and the general interaction between these two sectors. There are many issues in this context and they will be of interest to all our member-countries," Vice-President of the Petroleum Council Thor Fyaeran said. By Gulnara Zhandagulova
