Kazakhstan is ready to help the UN in stabilization and establishment of peaceful life in Afghanistan, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to Kazakhstan President's press-service citing Nursultan Nazarbayev as saying at the meeting with special representative of UN Secretary General and head of UN Mission in Afghanistan Jan Kubis.
Nazarbayev thanked the special representative of the UN Secretary General for the support rendered to Kazakhstan during its chairmanship in the OSCE.
"We hope for further fruitful cooperation. Your merits to Kazakhstan were awarded with Dostyk decoration. Right now you have a difficult and responsible job in the UN Mission on supporting Afghanistan. We are interested in development of the situation in this country after withdrawal of the international coalition troops. Kazakhstan is ready to participate in stabilization of the situation and establishment of peaceful life in Afghanistan," the press-service cites the President of Kazakhstan as saying.
According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, a special UN hub is going to be established in Almaty to "support Central Asian countries and other states in effective aide to Afghanistan".
"Should there be stability in Afghanistan, the whole region will be able to develop steadily. I highly appreciate the work Kazakhstan does to render support and aide to this country. Besides, Kazakhstan is actively participating in regional cooperation," head of the UN Mission in Afghanistan said.
