President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has met the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, Tengrinews reports referring to the presidential website.

The President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Albania discussed strengthening of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including cooperation in trade, investments and culture. Besides, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Edi Rama exchanged views on the current issues of the international agenda.

President Nazarbayev emphasized that Kazakhstan was interested in broadening its ties with Albania. “Europe is one of the major economic partners for Kazakhstan, however we do not have particularly close ties with Albania. We have not yet signed any fundamental economic cooperation documents. I hope that this visit will lay a foundation for our negotiations towards such documents. Agreements on economic collaboration, mutual protection of investments, visa regime and avoiding double taxation should be signed to create a framework for joint activities of our countries’ companies,” the President said.

The Prime Minister of Albania expressed gratitude for the reception and pointed out that Kazakhstan and Albania had much in common in their cultures.

Edi Rama agreed that the countries needed to develop their trade and economic ties and cooperate within the frameworks of various international organizations.

During his visit to Kazakhstan the Prime Minister of Albania also met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov. In the end of their meeting, Karim Massimov and Edi Rama signed a declaration between Kazakhstan and Albania. With this document they agreed to mutually support initiatives, promote the political dialogue, enhance trade and economic cooperation and work towards creating a legal framework for bilateral cooperation through agreements that comply with national interests of both countries.
