Kazakhstan became a member of the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction of G8, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry. Kazakhstan's entrance as a recipient country was officially announced at the meeting of the organization's experts in Washington. "Participating in the Global Partnership Kazakhstan will continue its activities aimed for further enhancement of the national, regional and international security," the Ministry's message states. The Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction began at Kananaskis G8 Summit on June 27, 2002. The Global Partnership addresses nuclear, radiological and biological security, employment of scientists involved in sensitive areas and support to observance of UN Security Council's resolution 1540 by the third countries.
