Kazakhstan considers participating in development of Afghanistan railroads, Tengrinews.kz reports Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov. “Kazakhstan supports regional international projects in energy sector and development of the regional transport infrastructure. We are considering the possibility of Kazakhstan’s participation in development of Afghanistan’s railroad network. Our common objective is to link Central and South Asia with stable trade and transport routes. For that Kazakhstan has already completed construction of the railroad section to Turkmenistan border. We hope that Turkmen and Afghan partners will also quickly finish construction of their part of this road,” Kazykhanov said. Yerzhan Kazykhanov noted that Kazakhstan will support useful infrastructure projects in the region. One of such projects provides for construction of Western Europe – Western China motor road. Head of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry expressed the opinion that the priority in cooperation on Afghanistan shall be given to economy, which is confirmed by the results of the 5th RECCA conference in Dushanbe. The work of Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan will be targeted to the same issues. “Reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable development, improving socio-economic performance of the country, education level and other human standards shall be the basics for stabilization of the situation,” Minister said. He stressed that the success of the dialog inside Afghanistan on the national peace-making was of great importance. “Only peace inside the country can ensure resolution of the common issues. Stability and security are the main guarantees of effective implementation of the economic projects and social programs for the benefit of Afghanistan people,” Kazykhanov stated.
