On January 18, 2012 Kazakhstan Central Election Commission registered Majilis deputies, Tengrinews.kz reports. CEC chairman gave them deputy pins. According to Kuandyk Turgankulov, the IDs will be given on January 19. Some of the new Majilis deputies, including Dariga Nazarbayeva, did not attend the official ceremony in Astana. “Someone fail to arrive from another city on time. I don’t think this is done on purpose, they have good reasons,” CEC member Marat Sarsembayev said. Communist Zhambyl Akhmetbekov took his red pin off and put the blue one. Answering the question whether he will wear the red one, he said: “Of course we will wear red pins, we’ll wear two of them. I’m wearing one only for the first day.” The communist also said that he was now a ‘comrade deputy’, but Gulzhana Karagussova noted that Majilis rules suggest ‘mister deputy’ form. On January 18 all three parties defined their deputies. Another 9 Majilis deputies were elected by Kazakhstan People’s Assembly.
