Kazakhstan and Russia are going to continue cooperating in defense industry, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Defense Ministry. “The 11th meeting of the Sub-Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation of the Inter-Government Commission on Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia was held in Astana. The meeting was chaired by deputy Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Sergey Gromov and Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Konstantin Biryulin,” the message states. The meeting was attended by members of Kazakhstan and Russian representatives of the Sub-Commission and representatives of defense companies of the two countries. The parties discussed the draft Agreement between Kazakhstan and Russia on military-technical cooperation and exchanged opinions on the current status of the bilateral cooperation, as well as on perspective projects. “The cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia is still focused on maintenance, repair and modernization of Kazakhstan’s armament and military vehicles, including creation of such centers and companies at the territory of Kazakhstan. There is also cooperation in supplies, repairs and modernization of aviation and armored vehicles of Kazakhstan Armed Forces. Kazakhstan and Russian companies that are part of Kazakhstan Engineering Kazakhstan national company and UralVagonZavod will perform the practical implementation of the cooperation plans,” the press-service writes. The parties expressed readiness for successful cooperation after signing the protocol of the meeting.
