Kazakhstan and Germany sign energy cooperation agreement

Kazakhstan’s Centre for Energy Saving and Increasing Energy Efficiency and DENA have signed a partnership agreement in Berlin, Germany, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kazakhstan. 

DENA, German Energy Agency, is the leading coordinator of a number of programs in the field of energy saving, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in different countries around the world. The agency was established in 2000 by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development and the Ministry for Environment.

The Kazakh-German agreement is aimed at joint implementation of projects in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency of industrial and civil facilities of Kazakhstan. The document will also allow Kazakhstan to use best German practices when introducing advanced technologies and know-how in these areas.

Besides, the agreement makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in raw materials, industry and technologies between Kazakhstan and Germany.

The documents signed in February 2012 during the official visit of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Germany opened up great opportunities in Kazakhstan for German oil and gas companies and enabled Kazakhstan to use advanced German technologies in its projects, which is especially relevant for Kazakhstan amid its state-run Program of Accelerated Industrial-Innovative Development.
