Kazakhstan and China will cooperate in suppression and prevention of corruption, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Agency on Countering Economic and Corruption Crimes. “A meeting was held on September 26, 2012 between chairman of Kazakhstan Agency on Countering Economic and Corruption Crimes (financial police) Rashid Tusupbekov and a delegation of Chinese Ministry of Supervision led by the Ministry’s Revision Attaché Zhang Huei Xin. The meeting covered organization of cooperation between the Agency and the competent authorities of China on prevention and suppression of corruption,” the message states. High level of corruption was uncovered among customs officials at Kazakhstan - Chinese border. It resulted in several massive personnel layoffs and reshuffles in the customs authorities. Inter-departmental groups of financial police officers have started working at Kazakhstan's part of the border this year. The authorities have already succeeded in bringing part of transport and logistics companies operating at the border out of shade.
