Kazakhstan is ahead of Malaysia by per capita output, president Nursultan Nazarbayev said during his working visit to Pavlodar oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We have always been learning from the East Asian tigers: South Korea, Singapore and others.” Nazarbayev said. “Now we are producing more per capita than Malaysia that we learned from does.” By 2020 Kazakhstan’s economy is set to grow 2.5-3 times. “ Speaking of GDP per capita: we will be over $10,000-12,000 and Kazakhstan will among the developed countries of the world,” the President said and added that the development pace must not slow down. “We have started a huge work to industrialize our country and create a different economy to become independent of raw materials. Sale of our raw materials – oil, gas, metals – is going to end sooner or later. Especially since we understand that the market conditions are changing and we will be left empty-handed.” Nazarbayev reminded that 152 new enterprises were launched as part of the industrialization program last year and 200 more enterprises are scheduled to be launched in 2011.
