The President noted that Kazakh-Tajik relations are actively developing. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations, which marks a new stage in cooperation.
“This document is important and represents a significant step forward. I support the proposal of the President of Tajikistan to develop inter-parliamentary relations. We hope that this cooperation will become a key element of our relationship,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also met with Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda.
During the discussion, the President of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the agreements reached would bring the multifaceted interaction between the two countries to a new level.
“Negotiations were successful, with contracts signed worth over $1 billion. Thank you for organizing the forum. We aim to reach $2 billion in mutual trade and look for ways to increase it,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The Head of State confirmed his commitment to strengthening the partnership with Tajikistan. Kohir Rasulzoda thanked him for the visit and noted the increased activity in relations in recent years.
“Deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan is a priority for Tajikistan. Kazakhstan is an important trading partner, and trade turnover has increased by 20%. Achieving $2 billion in mutual trade is a realistic goal,” said the Prime Minister of Tajikistan.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of implementing the signed agreements and fully unlocking the potential in trade and economic interactions, industrial cooperation, transportation, and transit.
On August 22, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit. The Head of State was met by Emomali Rahmon at Dushanbe airport.
