Kairat Kozhamzharov has been appointed President’s assistant and secretary of Kazakhstan’s Security Council and released from the position of Akim (Governor) of Akmola oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President’s press-service. Kairat Kozhamzharov worked as Akim of Akmola oblast since January 2012. He was born in 1965. He graduated from Zhdanov Leningrad State University. In 1987-1995 he served in Kazakhstan prosecution authorities. From September 1995 to March 1998 he worked in the customs authorities. Starting from July 1999 he worked in the financial police in different positions: head of the agency’s investigations department from February 2001, deputy head of Almaty department on countering economic and corruption crimes from February 2002 to May 2004, head of Aktobe oblast department on countering economic and corruption crimes from May 2004 to January 2007, deputy chairman of the Agency on countering economic and corruption crimes (financial police) from January 2007 to December 2008. In the period from December 2008 to January 2012 he worked as chairman of the Agency on countering economic and corruption crimes (financial police). He is a general-major of financial police. Kozhamzharov replaced Marat Tazhin at his position of the secretary of Kazakhstan’s Security Council. Tazhin was earlier appointed Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State.

In the period from December 2008 to January 2012 he worked as chairman of the Agency on countering economic and corruption crimes (financial police). He is a general-major of financial police.
Kozhamzharov replaced Marat Tazhin at his position of the secretary of Kazakhstan’s Security Council. Tazhin was earlier appointed Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State.
