Japan’s Prime Minister to visit Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan will host Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for an official visit on August 9-10, at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The announcement was made by the President’s press service. The visit will include the first summit of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue on August 9 in Astana.

"On August 10, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will hold bilateral talks," the press release states.

The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously noted that Astana and Tokyo have established an active political dialogue, achieved a high level of economic interaction, and continue to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties.

Japan is one of the major foreign investors in Kazakhstan, with total investments exceeding $7.8 billion since 1993.

The two sides see significant potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as transportation and logistics, the mining and metallurgical complex, renewable energy, waste processing, digitalization, and infrastructure.
