Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a series of meetings with top executives of leading global corporations during his working visit to New York, Akorda reported.

On September 22, Tokayev met with Frank Bruno, CEO of Cerberus Capital Management, Chevron CEO Michael Wirth, and Yann LeCun, Vice President and Chief AI Scientist at Meta.

The President praised Cerberus Capital Management’s global leadership in investment management and welcomed its interest in financing infrastructure projects within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). He noted that the company’s strategy aligns with Kazakhstan’s priorities to diversify its economy. Cargo transit along the TITR has grown sixfold over the past five years, and Tokayev invited Cerberus to participate in Kazakhstan’s digital initiatives.

Chevron’s contribution to Kazakhstan’s economy was also highlighted. Since independence, the corporation has invested about $55 billion in the country, with Kazakhstan accounting for nearly 25 percent of Chevron’s total production volumes. The talks focused on the Tengiz expansion project, gas processing at Karachaganak, and hydrocarbon exports via the Middle Corridor.

In his meeting with Yann LeCun, Tokayev underscored Kazakhstan’s ambition to become a regional leader in digitalization and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the country’s efforts to develop its own AI ecosystem and a large language model for the Kazakh language (KazLLM). The President welcomed the recently signed agreement with Meta Platforms to launch a joint AI acceleration program in Kazakhstan, expressing readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the tech giant.
