Chairman of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will render a visit to Kazakhstan in June, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov. “Incumbent President of the European Commission Mr. Barroso is a former Prime-Minister of Portugal. He will render his first official visit to Kazakhstan in two weeks, on June 1-3, and this is important for us,” Idrissov told journalists on the sidelines of Kazakhstan-Portugal business seminar in Lisbon on Wednesday. Kazakhstan Foreign Minister noted that the European Union (EU) was the “number 1 investment partner”. The talks are currently in process with the EU on signing a new partnership and cooperation agreement that will cover prospects of enhancement of the relations in political and economic sectors. The official visit of Kazakhstan Foreign Minister to Spain started on May 13 and was followed by a trip to Portugal on May 14-16.
