Launching the Eurasian Economic Union, the three member states will see its combined GDP grown by 25% by 2030, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said February 5, according to his Press Service. “According to some estimates, integrating into the Eurasian Economic Union will enable the member states to boost their combined GDP by 25% (…) the member states are open to interaction with all other partners (…) We support the suggestion made by Russia’s President to launch a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and the EU (…) experts have been putting forward various suggestions on what the EEU is about. It’s not a political entity. However, such a possibility in the future isn’t ruled out. As of today it is a pure economic entity”, he said when speaking before heads of diplomatic missions in Astana. According to President Nazarbayev, while preparing to enter the WTO Kazakhstan should “have its products seasoned when competing with products produced in partner economies”. “Eurasian Economic Union to be launched in 2014 is a common market based on equal rights, mutual benefits and common interests of the member states”, he said.
