Corruption in judiciary enforcement calls for sweeping reforms: Kazakhstan's new Secretary of State

The new Secretary of State of Kazakhstan Adilbek Dzhaksybekov has held a meeting to discuss corruption in execution of court rulings and ways to improve the rating system determining the level of corruption in various government bodies in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press service.

Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, the former Defense Minister, was appointed Secretary of State last week, replacing Karim Massimov who was appointed the country's new Prime-Minister.

In his new position, Mr. Dzhaksybekov immediately turned his attention to the problem of corruption.

"The statistics shows that the level of judiciary enforcement is very low. In 2013, out of 2.2 trillion tenge subject to recovery of funds based on court rulings, only 108 billion tenge were collected, that is, 5 percent," the press statement said. According to the Secretary of State, judiciary enforcement authorities are among the most corrupt officials in Kazakhstan.
