The Ambassador of China in Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui has assured Kazakhstan that it should not fear Chinese expansion in agriculture, Tengrinews reports citing Astana TV channel.
Zhan Hanhui took part in the seminar dedicated to worldwide peace and intercultural understanding. At the sidelines of the seminar in Astana, the Chinese Ambassador reassured that land lease by Chinese agrobusinesses in Kazakhstan was only possible in case it complied with the Kazakh legislation and met the interests of both countries.
"We should approach the issue from the standpoint of mutually beneficial cooperation and abandon the Cold War mentality. Chinese partners work on similar terms in Europe, Africa, Latin America; they work in the same way in many other countries. If a company rents a land plot, it does not mean that the company will seize ownership of the land. The land will always be under the Kazakhstan's jurisdiction and it will not fly away, run away or disappear. All we want is an opportunity to collaborate, work, reap a good harvest and divide the profit. This is mutually beneficial cooperation," the Ambassador said.
According to Zhang Hanhui, Kazakhstan joining the WTO is a major milestone that will help strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
"Today Kazakhstan's economic growth contributes more and more to the international development. It is certainly beneficial for the cooperation between our countries," Zhang Hanhui said.
