Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at the capital's airport as he arrived for a state visit to Kazakhstan.

An honor guard was assembled at the airport in recognition of the distinguished guest.

In a gesture of genuine friendship between the peoples of Kazakhstan and China, children waving the flags of both countries greeted President Xi Jinping and the official delegation, performing a song in Chinese.

The visit includes high-level bilateral talks and the signing of several important documents.

President Xi Jinping is also set to participate in the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization during his state visit to Kazakhstan.
