Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received the first ambassador of the USA to Kazakhstan (1991-1995), president of the US-Kazakhstan Business Association William Courtney, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the Senate.
Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan attached great importance to the development of strategic partnership with the United States, which in recent years entered a high level of cooperation in the field of nuclear non-proliferation, safety and economy, in which the role of the first American ambassador to independent Kazakhstan was substantial.
Courtney noted significant progress of Kazakhstan in economic development, which was made possible thanks to the timely economic reforms. This policy increased the investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan, Courtney believes. He said that the United States were interested in further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Courtney also noted the farsighted and pragmatic policies of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to maintain internal political stability based on interethnic and interreligious harmony and market economy, which is extremely important in the context of the dramatic events in the geopolitical surroundings of Kazakhstan.
