He was met by an honor guard cavalry regiment, while the flags of Kazakhstan and Russia waved near the Kremlin walls.

The ceremony then continued inside the Grand Kremlin Palace, where Tokayev was greeted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The leaders walked through the Green Drawing Room — one of the palace’s ceremonial halls used for informal meetings and high-level receptions — before beginning bilateral talks there.

During the meeting, Putin accepted Tokayev’s invitation to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit in 2026.
Earlier, Tokayev shared his impressions of the private two-hour conversation he had with Putin the day before, describing the talks as open and substantial. “We discussed many issues of bilateral cooperation and the international situation,” the Kazakh president said.
Tokayev arrived in Moscow on November 11 for a state visit at the invitation of the Russian president.
