California interested in EXPO-2017 in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan Ambassador to the U.S. Kairat Umarov has had a meeting with congressmen and heads of IT, pharmaceutics and infrastructure companies in Los Angeles, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan. During the meeting with Los Angeles World Affairs Council Umarov introduced the participants with the key directions of the Strategy Kazakhstan-2050, achievements of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy, as well as key economic indicators of the country. The subject of the coming Global Exhibition EXPO-2017 Energy of the Future created a lot of interest among the American participants. Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry said that California was one of the leading states by development of green economy, mainly in production of innovative technologies related to solar energy. “In general the visit confirmed mutual practical interest of both parties to development of business connections between Kazakhstan and the state of California in the context of further enhancement of the trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the U.S.,” the press-service writes. Kairat Umarov had talks with chairman of the U.S. Congress Subcommittee for Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and U.S. Representative Alan Lowenthal (D-CA). The parties noted the significant potential for cooperation in high tech between Kazakhstan and the state of California. During the meeting with chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs Ed Royce (R-CA) the American lawmaker thanked Kazakhstan for supporting the United States in key issues of the international agenda, including for Kazakhstan’s efforts on stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
