Baurzhan Mukhametzhanov has been appointed new Akim (Governor) of Mangistau oblast, LADA reports. Mukhametzhanov had been a Senator since April 2, 2009. Earlier in different years Baurzhan Mukhametzhanov used to be Interior Minister, deputy head of the President’s Administration, Vice Prime-Minister and Minister of Justice. Krybmek Kusherbayev had been holding the position of Mangistau oblast Akim since January 2006. “Baurzhan Mukhametzhanov was released from the position of Kazakhstan Senate deputy in relation with transfer to another position. Krymbek Kusherbayev was released from the position of Mangistau oblast Akim in relation with transfer to another position,” the President’s website writes.
