The official Moscow sees nothing extraordinary in the current talks between Russia and Kazakhstan on the schedule and conditions of Proton carrier rockets launches from Baikonur, RIA Novosti quoted Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying at a press conference. “Russia does everything possible to decrease the environment impact. Proton carrier rockets have already been modernized. It is not the first year the two sides have agreed on the number of launches. There is nothing sensational (…) It is merely a regular issue. The two presidents are aware it is important to settle such situations and a decision has been taken to run a special intergovernmental committee to regulate all the Baikonur-related issues (…) On the Russian side the Committee is headed by Igor Shuvalov [the First Vice PM]”, the Minister said. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov assured journalists “there is no scandal around Baikonur”.
