The board changed in BTA Bank. Chairman of the board Anvar Saidenov resigned, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the bank’s press-service. “BTA Bank is pleased to announce the planned changes in the board in relation to completion of the restructuring procedure. In this relation chairman on the board Anvar Saidenov, creditors’ representatives Sergey Babayan and Yacek Bjezinski, as well as independent director Ilkka Salonen filed their resignations from February 14, 2014,” the press-service writes. Chairman of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Umirzak Shukeyev expressed gratitude to the board for their work. “Samruk-Kazyna fund, being the bank’s major shareholder, highly evaluates the professional teams that formed the bank’s board in 2011-2012. Today, when the important stage in the bank’s work is over and there are new tasks set to the bank, we thank Saidenov, Babayan, Bjezinski and Salonen and wish them further success in their professional career,” the press-service cites Shukeyev. Anvar Saidenov noted that the board successfully solved the set tasks with restructuring being a major among them. “Constructively representing interests of different groups of shareholders, the board members made a significant contribution into implementation of this difficult and large-scale process. Besides, their direct participation helped advance the corporate management of the bank to a new level,” Anvar Saidenov said. The issue of changing the board of BTA Bank will be reviewed at the shareholders meeting scheduled for February 14. Last week Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed Samruk-Kazyna to exit BTA Bank, Alliance Bank and Temirbank. Later, chairman of Samruk-Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev confirmed readiness to exit the three banks.
