U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth J. Fairfax told about geopolitical interests of the U.S. in Kazakhstan during his lecture at Kazakhstan President’s Academy of State Management, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We want Kazakhstan to grow and develop as a prosperous and stable country so that its population lives well and the country remains the pillar of stability in Central Asia,” he expressed the main goal of the American diplomacy in Kazakhstan. According to Fairfax, if the U.S. and Kazakhstan government have some kind of disputes, these are “disagreements between friends”. “And these are disagreements about the choice of path and the most suitable method. But this is not the disagreement about the goal itself. We share the same opinion on achievement of goals to ensure development of strong and stable Kazakhstan. This is our goal,” the ambassador said. He confessed that there had been some disagreements. For example, around development of democracy in Kazakhstan. “As Secretary of State Clinton said, we welcome development of representative government around the world, but we understand that every country has its own path and its own approach,” Fairfax cited Hillary Clinton. However, the discussions on such sensitive issues cover mainly the details, because the goals are clear, he noted. “In what manner would the development unfold and how soon it would happen are the kinds of issues that we discuss,” the diplomat explained.
