Akhmetov met with Uzbekistan Prime-Minister

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov met with Uzbekistan Prime-Minister Savkat Mirziyeyev during his official visit to Uzbekistan, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Uzbekistan is one of the key economic partners of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan relations have got a big potential for development and need further enhancement in all areas. We are interested in further advancement of mutually beneficial relations,” Akhmetov noted during the meeting. According to the Prime-Minister, creation of the Business Council might become one of the ways to enhance relations between the countries. The Council will help establish a closer and more efficient dialog between business circles of both countries. Besides, creation of Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Business Council will become an efficient mechanism for consolidation of business structures of both countries, the Prime-Minister assured. The commodities turnover between the two countries grew 24 percent and reached $1.9 billion in 2011. In 10 months of 2012 the mutual trade reached $1.7 billion and grew 10.8 percent comparing to the similar period last year. Akhmetov stated that Kazakhstan would be able to get to the commodities turnover level of $5 billion in the nearest time. Mirziyeyev stressed that “Kazakhstan is one of the most important strategic partners of Uzbekistan”. Besides, the Prime-Ministers also discussed development of the transit and transport potential of both countries.
