Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks in Astana with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Akorda reported, marking a visit the Kazakh leader described as especially significant for bilateral ties.
Tokayev noted that Pashinyan’s first official trip to Kazakhstan comes at an important moment for both countries.
“We are confident that this visit will give a strong boost to the development of strategic partnership between our states. The Kazakh people have deep respect for the Armenian nation — its history, traditions and culture. During this visit, several important agreements will be signed,” Tokayev said.
Pashinyan thanked the President for the invitation and the warm welcome in the Kazakh capital.
“This visit will give new momentum to our bilateral relations. I believe a new era in our relations began with your official visit to Armenia last year, after which we signed a number of crucial agreements — some already implemented, others in progress. It is a great honour for me to be here on an official visit,” the Armenian prime minister said.
A ceremonial welcome for Pashinyan took place at Akorda on the morning of 21 November. The Armenian leader arrived in Astana the previous evening, where he was greeted at the airport by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
Earlier today, Pashinyan posted a video from Astana on his social media, set to the Kazakh song Aua rai by singer Bayansulu Sagyndykova. The clip shows a view of the capital from his window, ending with a heart gesture. “Good morning, have a great day, and I love you all,” he wrote.
