Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will take part in the opening of the General Debate at the landmark 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Akorda reported.
"Tomorrow, September 23, the Head of State will participate in the opening of the General Debate of the 80th UN General Assembly session. The plenary meeting will be opened by the Assembly’s president, Annalena Baerbock," the press service said.
Tokayev’s speech is scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. New York time (10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Astana time).
The President is on a working visit to New York from September 21 to 23. Earlier, he held meetings with senior executives of PepsiCo and Amazon, as well as leaders of other major U.S. corporations.
In August, Tokayev met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres during his visit to Almaty. The talks focused on the activities of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia and Afghanistan, UN reforms, and pressing issues on the international agenda.
