Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a letter of gratitude to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev following his state visit to Uzbekistan.

Tokayev thanked Mirziyoyev for the warm hospitality extended to the Kazakh delegation during the 14–16 November visit, calling the trip historically significant and noting that it gave “a powerful boost” to strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.

He also praised the organization of the VII Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Tashkent, highlighting the depth of regional discussions, the adopted decisions and documents, and the participation of Azerbaijan as a full member — all of which, he noted, elevated the forum to a strategically important event.

State visit highlights

During the visit, Tokayev and Mirziyoyev held one-on-one talks, co-chaired a session of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and jointly launched seven projects worth $1.2 billion.

On 15 November, the presidents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan visited the Tashkent Center for Islamic Civilization, created to preserve and promote Uzbekistan’s cultural and spiritual heritage as part of global Islamic civilization.

Mirziyoyev also awarded Tokayev Uzbekistan’s highest state honor — the Order of “Oliy Darajali Dustlik” (Friendship of the Highest Degree).

At the VII Consultative Meeting, Tokayev proposed closer regional cooperation in rare-earth metals extraction and processing, emphasized water security, and named cultural and humanitarian ties as key priorities for Central Asia amid current regional challenges.

At the end of the visit, Mirziyoyev personally saw Tokayev off at Tashkent-Humo Airport, where the two leaders exchanged a warm farewell.
