Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolences to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos over the loss of life caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi, the Akorda press service reported.

In his message, Tokayev expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

According to media reports, Typhoon Kalmaegi struck the central part of the Philippines on Tuesday, killing 90 people, with 26 more reported missing. Six people died in a military helicopter crash while delivering aid to affected areas, while others lost their lives in floods, fallen trees, and building collapses.

Meteorologists have warned that another tropical cyclone is approaching the Philippines and may strengthen into a super typhoon by the weekend, with wind speeds exceeding 240 kilometers per hour.
