Tengrinews.kz - During the plenary session of the 'BRICS+' outreach event, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan's interest in advancing projects related to oil and gas extraction and processing, as well as critical minerals.
"We are interested in promoting existing and launching promising projects in the field of oil and gas extraction and processing, as well as critical minerals. The vast potential of BRICS should also be utilized to address the consequences of climate change, such as water shortages, extreme temperature increases, and desertification," President Tokayev stated.
He also highlighted the growing trade between Kazakhstan and BRICS countries, which accounted for nearly half of the country's foreign trade in 2023.
"We aim to expand mutually beneficial partnerships in key sectors such as trade, investment, IT technologies, critical minerals, food security, education, and tourism," Tokayev added.
President Tokayev arrived in Kazan on October 23 following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the XVI BRICS Summit of Heads of State.
