Tengrinews.kz - The Constitutional Court of Thailand found Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin guilty of gross ethical violations.

The Constitutional Court found Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin guilty of gross ethical violations during the appointment of Minister Pichit Chuenban, who had a prior conviction for corruption. As a result, Srettha has been removed from office, according to the Bangkok Post.

"The ruling removes him from all positions in the cabinet, but the ministers will continue their work. Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai will act as the prime minister until a new one is elected," the publication states.

Mr. Srettha stated that, as a businessman, he was not familiar with all the rules governing ministerial appointments. However, the court ruled that this was no excuse, as the Pichit case was well-known.

Previously, we reported that the Prime Minister of Japan is preparing to step down. He has decided not to run for the position of head of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the upcoming internal party elections this September.
