Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has pledged not to reduce people’s pension allowances and salaries of those employed in the public sector in the crisis time, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports.
“We are capable of finding a way out of the crisis; crises will not last long; it may last for a couple or five years. Measures taken not to cut down on pension allowances and salaries of those working in the public sector will enable us to live through the crisis period. We may be unable to increase pensions and salaries, but we are capable of maintaining them at the current level. And the nation will keep its progressive movement”, he said in his Address to the Nation voiced at the 2nd extended sitting of the Nur Otan Party political council.
President reminded that in 2015 Kazakhstan will be celebrating the 550th anniversary of its statehood, the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, and the 70th anniversary of the victory in WW2.
“We have strengthened the nation’s stability without impairing languages or dignity of other ethnic groups. And we’ve been providing equal opportunities to all of our citizens regardless of their backgrounds (…) We’ll keep moving along this path. The year 2015 is a year of anniversaries, a year to celebrate the national history and our successes”, he said.
